Awbury Arboretum Fall Engagement

Let me tell you… I have been to some many amazing & beautiful locations throughout the years photographing couples. If you were to ask past me that I would be doing what I love, photographing couples while simultaneously petting goats well…. I would have said you’re crazy. However crazy has now become apart of my everyday life especially having 2 wild huskies, so now I am ready to tackle just about anything. For Lauren and Mel’s engagement session they really wanted something fun & lively and a moment to soak up the beautiful Fall weather. Keep reading to see more of their beautiful Awbury Arboretum Fall Engagement.

How it all Began…

Thanks to the loveliness of modern technology, so many couples have been able to meet and grow their love stories. For Lauren and Mel, that is pretty much how it all began. After meeting on Tinder and going on their first date, which ended up being 6 hours by the way, the two have been inseparable ever since. To this day they still try to recreate their first date each year on the first Sunday of December… brb CRYING. Mel surprised Lauren with a lakeside proposal while Lauren actually proposed back by surprising Mel with a visit by their childhood friends. Now… THIS is a sign that there is no “right” way to propose. Do whatever makes you happy and makes you get that warm fuzzy feeling inside… or whatever you may call it.

Awbury Arboretum Fall Engagement

Since getting engaged, these two have been relishing in it. They are savoring every moment and milestone together and truly love the engaged life. From the get-go, Lauren and Mel already knew the exact location they wanted to take their engagement photos. It was a lovely Thursday afternoon when I met up with them at Awbury Arboretum. This location is a gorgeous nature sanctuary located in the Northwest part of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The arboretum has been open to the public to enjoy all of its beauty for over 100 years. It’s located on 56-acres of historic landscape and is truly a sight to see at least once.

I met up with L&M at The Francis Cope House located on the Arboretum property. The home holds so much life, character and history and was the perfect backdrop to start their engagement session. The Fall foliage had began to peak through, so we were able to get some gorgeous orange & green tones throughout the entire day – score!

The Farm at Awbury

After walking around the property a bit, we moved to our second engagement photo location – The Farm at Awbury. Located on the property is a full out farm and get this… filled with goats & chickens. I don’t know if I would consider myself a farm girl at heart but… they were pretty darn cute. At The Farm at Awbury, they actually host what’s called The Philly Goat Project. Their goal is to bring together the surrounding community to promote wellbeing, taking care of the environment and provide unique learning opportunities with their goats. Lauren & Mel spend a great deal of time volunteering for The Philly Goat Project, so naturally it was a must have to include during their engagement session. We spent the remainder of their session hanging out with the goats & chickens and they even got have their own photo ops. Honestly they are not next level model status, don’t ya think? It was almost as if each photo kept getting better and better and the more goats, the better they got. So moral of the story: bring goats to your engagement session.

I am beyond honored to have been given this opportunity to photograph such a special time for Lauren & Mel. They both were amazing and such models in front of the camera, which clearly it shows. I can’t wait to meet up with them again & photograph their wedding this upcoming October! Cheers to lovely couple!
