Timeless Philadelphia Wedding at The Lucy

Laura and Matt are high school sweethearts that have now turned into lifelong lovers. Back in 2021, they inquired with me to photograph their wedding, and really hooked me on their love story. They wanted their wedding photos to reflect how they live their life. Which was fun, loving, and bright so naturally all of those things are up my alley. Their wedding day was beautifully curated and the details were just insane if you don’t believe me, go see for yourself. Their timeless Philadelphia wedding at The Lucy is one that I will continue to rave about for a long time. Hopefully, after reading this blog, you’ll understand why!

The Lucy by Cescaphe

Located in the heart of Center City, The Lucy is a venue space that just radiates sophistication and timelessness. This luxe venue brings a modern interpretation of 19th-century detailing with modern textures. You have European-inspired chandeliers, marble accents, and ivory wall paneling that is just stunning. The Lucy truly does take their time when it comes to creating and establishing a vision, and they do it well. They offer amazing spaces for your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception that are bright and airy and will make your heart absolutely swoon. It’s a one-of-a-kind venue that will be perfect for just about any couple. Book your dream wedding at The Lucy!

Taking detail photos has got to be one of my favorite parts of a wedding day. It’s a time to get creative and really play around with designs that will make such a difference in your final wedding gallery. We always ask our couples to have us have a bit of time towards the beginning of their day dedicated to these shots. Typically we will even carve out time in your wedding timeline for this as well! Find out why a wedding timeline is important on your wedding day here!

While couples are getting ready, slipping into their wedding attire, and finishing up before all the fun-filled festivities, you know where we’ll be. Shortly after spending the morning with Laura and Matt it was time for first looks!

First Look(s)

The one thing you have to remember about first looks is that they do not ruin the moment on your wedding day. Whether you decide to have one or not, is up to you but they don’t ruin any part of your wedding day in the slightest. In fact, they can sometimes even enhance the day! It gives a moment of intimacy and privacy for whoever you choose to do a first look with. It could be your wedding party, your partner, or even a parent! In Laura’s case, she chose to do a first look with her dad and her bridesmaids and both were just as beautiful.

Church Wedding Ceremony

Laura and Matt had a wedding at the Church of the Incarnation. Here is where they chose to see each other for the first time on their wedding day. Now keep in mind that this can be a very emotional moment for everyone so just be prepared for some tears to flow! Church ceremonies may sometimes have restrictions for photos and video so make sure to communicate this with your photographer beforehand. The last thing you want is for your photographer to find out on the day of your wedding that they can only photograph within a certain distance of their couple! Luckily for us, we were able to get some amazing shots of Laura and Matt at the altar. It wasn’t long until the room roared with claps as Laura and Matt officially tied the knot – woohoo!!

Old City Philly Portraits

Once the ceremony was over and thanks to our trusty timeline, we were able to have plenty of time for portraits. We made our way over to one of my personal favorite locations, The Merchant’s Exchange Building in Old City Philly. It’s a nice spacious location right in the heart of Old City Philadelphia that really gives off those classic, timeless vibes that we were going for in their portraits! We took their wedding party portraits before taking solo portraits of Laura and Matt.

Dance, Dance, Dance

When it comes to the reception, it really is a free for all. Everyone has officially begun to loosen up and really soak in the celebration of the newlyweds. The food and drinks start flowing, the dance floor opens up, secrets are exposed during speech time and really it’s just time to unwind and have some fun. Leading up to this point, so many details and moving parts were being put together. You now get to take this time to let loose and that’s exactly what Laura and Matt did. They really enjoyed being surrounded by friends, family, and some good music which was the perfect end to their wedding day. What could be better!
