Santa Barbara California Engagement

post

March 28, 2022

One of my favorite things about Instagram is the amazing people that I get to meet. If you follow me… which if you don’t, what are you doing?? You may know that I love posting about my two husky pups, Miska and Kodiak. With my love for dogs comes a plethora of others who also share my love for them.

In comes Brielle who actually found me on IG last year after replying to one of my stories about my pup. After that we began chatting about her and her fiancé. Brielle mentioned her fiancé, Kenny, and how they were looking for a dog friendly Philadelphia wedding venue. See, Brielle and Kenny actually live in LA but are originally from the Philly area. It just so happens that a few days after our conversation I was going to be flying out to Santa Barbara, California. In came the absolute brilliant idea to meet up and do an engagement session together with their adorable pup.

Santa Barbara California Engagement

After arriving in Santa Barbara, I couldn’t have been more excited of all the fun things that were planned. Brielle, Kenny and I met up early one morning. We hiked about 20 minutes to find this gorgeous spot at the edge of a cliff that overlooked the water. Despite the fact that it was a bit cloudy this day, it ended up working perfectly. They brought along their adorable pup and my heart absolutely melted. Get you a dog that is as photogenic as this one… go on… I’ll wait. Brielle wore this gorgeous neutral satin mid-length dress and Kenny wore a button up and pants that matched the ocean. If you’re ever looking for what to wear to your engagement session, take a few pointers from these two!

Santa Barbara City Hall

Once we decided it was time to get our toes out of the sand and the smell of sea salt out of our noses, we decided to head over to Santa Barbara City Hall. Designed and completed in 1929, this Spanish-Colonial style courthouse has so much depth and character that we just HAD to come here. The grounds are surrounded with palm trees, gorgeous gardens, beautiful arches and red tile roofs that will make any heart soar. It definitely was a change of pace compared to up north in Philly, that’s for sure.

Something you may notice whenever you’re looking at photos and thinking “how do they look so comfortable in front of the camera?”. While some may naturally be really good in front of the lens, that is not the case with many couples. In fact, my biggest secret when it comes to taking photos that look real & natural is movement. Constant movement is the key to making sure you never look stiff and uncomfortable when you’re looking back at photos. Don’t worry though, if that freaks you out I got you covered. I make sure whenever I am working with my couples that I prompt you accordingly so you are looking FIRE.

I am so beyond happy with how these photos turned out and I couldn’t be more excited for Brielle and Kenny and their engagement. I’m even more excited to capture Brielle and Kenny’s wedding this October at Bartrams Gardens in Philly! Be on the lookout for when those photos come out because trust me… you’re not going to want to miss it.

Oh and if you loved this Santa Barbara California Engagement, then you’re going to love this Arches National Park Elopement!
